GDPA Philanthropy ProjectsSince its inception the members of the GDPA have volunteered at skin cancer screenings and in other philanthropic projects that give back to the communities in which we serve. In 2014 the GDPA formalized their philanthropic projects under the auspices of the Membership Committee Chairs who oversee these projects. Below are a list of some of the philanthropic projects that GDPA currently undertakes. Children's Skin Disease Foundation | Camp WonderThe GDPA recognizes our collaborating physicians through our Annual Collaborating Physician Recognition. Since 2015, the GDPA has donated to the Children's Skin Disease Foundation to support Camp Wonder, which allows children with chronic and life-threatening skin diseases to attend summer camp each year. The yearly donation is made in honor of the physicians with whom we practice. 2025 Donation in the amount of $15,000 - Camp Friend Level Melanoma Research FoundationSince 2019, the GDPA has dedicated our Annual Dermatology PEARLS Conference Welcome Event to support the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF.) Our efforts to support the MRF date back to 2014 through GDPA's sponsored team in the Annual Miles for Melanoma Charity Fundraiser 5k Run/Walks. Donations made to the MRF allow participants to support the organization's mission to support medical research for effective treatments and, eventually, a cure for melanoma. Melanoma is a disease that is estimated to kill 10,000 Americans each year. The organization also educates patients, families, and clinicians about the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of melanoma. In 2024, GDPA raised $1,200 from attendees and made a $1,200 matching donation for a total amount of $2,400 raised to benefit the MRF. Beginning in 2025 and moving forward GDPA will make a donation in the amount of $10 for each healthcare professional who registers to attend their annual Dermatology PEARLS Conference. National Psoriasis FoundationIn 2025, the GDPA support the National Psoriasis Foundation's 3nd annual Atlanta Soirée at the $5,000 Friends Level – an inspiring evening to raise awareness and critical funds to advance NPF’s mission of curing psoriatic disease and improving the lives of those affected.
