GDPA Philanthropy Projects

Since its inception the members of the GDPA have volunteered at skin cancer screenings and in other philanthropic projects that give back to the communities in which we serve.  In 2014 the GDPA formalized their philanthropic projects under the auspices of the Membership Committee Chairs who oversee these projects.  Below are a list of some of the philanthropic projects that GDPA currently undertakes.

Camp Wonder

The GDPA recognizes our collaborating physicians in our Annual Physician Appreciation dinner.  Since 2015, the GDPA has made a cash donation to the Children's Skin Disease Foundation to support their Camp Wonder which allows children with chronic and life threatening skin disease to attend summer camp each year.  The yearly donation is made in honor of the supportive physicians with whom we practice.

The GDPA is a Gold Chairman's Circle Level Founding Member of the Dermatology PA Foundation (DPAF).  As the official foundation of the Society of Dermatology PAs, the DPAF's mission is to fund and promote education, research and philanthropy to advance the field of dermatology.

The GDPA since 2014 has sponsored a team in the annual Miles for Melanoma charity fundraiser 5k run/walks held in Atlanta.  The Miles for Melanoma events allow participants to support and raise funds to benefit the Melanoma Research Foundation.  The purpose of this organization is to provide support for effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma, a disease which is estimated to kill 10,000 Americans each year.  The organization also serves to educate patients, families and clinicians about the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of melanoma.
